Despire to Perspire
With my extensive background in fine art and graphic design, I have the ability to help people solve their communication and artisitic problems in a number of different ways. For instance, if you need a multi-panel brochure produced for your business, I can not only create the concept, but I can also manage the relationship with printing vendors. If your business lacks a corporate identity, I can work with you on crafting a logo and accompanying stationary that launches you into the consumer market. If your company is in desire need of a website, I will collaborate with you on an effective and usable solution that captures user interest and increases your online productivity. If you need someone to capture images of your product or service, say the word and I will get out my digital camera or arrange for an experienced professional to assist. Finally, if you have a more diverse project request, such as the creation of a wood sculpture or a video yearbook, let's open a dialogue and discuss my role in how we can make it come to life. Hire the fire.
My Process
When I am working with clients, I always use my "3D" process. Discovery. Design. Delivery.
During the first phase, Discovery, I will arrange for us to sit down and talk about all the specifics of your project. We will talk about your goals, how much your budget is, and what your timeframe is. I will ask you questions about who the major decision makers will be and how approvals will be handled. I will ask you whether or not high-quality photography exists, and work closely with you on crafting an information architecture. Once we agree on what needs to be accomplished and when, we will then move to the second phase ... design.
The Design phase involves me gathering all the assets I need in order to execute the design, including but not limited to, photography, information architecture, written copy, etc.. Once I have those materials I sit down with pencil and paper and start concepting solutions. From there I move to creating polished mockups for your viewing and approval. At this point we will continue exchanging thoughts and critiques until we reach the point where both of us are satisfied the design achieves the goals we previously set. Then we move on to the last step ... Delivery.
The final phase of my process is Delivery. Depending on the nature of the work I am doing for you, delivery could consist of a multitude of different things. For example, if I am working on a web design for you, delivery would involve acquiring domain names, hosting space, and uploading files. If I am producing an identity and corresponding stationary, delivery would involve me working with printing vendors and making sure files are transferred in the appropriate format to the appropriate persons. If I am constructing a video for you, delivery may involve burning DVDs or figuring out which technologies would be best for displaying the work. Whatever the project, I will wrap up all loose ends, make sure you are happy, and send you a bill.
My Many Hats
Family Man
I always say that I'm a Dad before I'm a designer. My family is the most important thing in this world. I had a hard time listing this on my services page, because it's more of an honor, but being there for my wife and 2 boys is the most important service I provide. * Please note this service is not available to the public.
Web Designer
The web has always fascinated me and with online video, mobile applications, and social networking becoming more and more a part of our everyday lives, the possibilities are endless. I'll help you push the boundaries with a site rooted in strong information architecture, content, design, and code.
Identity Creator
The challenge of representing a company with a single logo and then letting that logo proliferate into all their marketing and presentation materials is one of my favorites to take on. Whether you need a logo, stationary, t-shirts or customized toothbrushes, give Human Radiator the chance to make your brand shine.
Mobile DJ
I've been out of this loop for quite awhile, but I still have my equipment lurking under my basement stairs in case the right opportunity came along to set it free. I've been the featured entertainment at weddings, private parties, kids functions, and other assorted events.
Amateur Photographer
A passion of mine ever since spending endless days and nights in the St. Norbert photo lab. Capturing a moment in time with an image is a power and a gift. Lately I've been taking a lot of pictures of my two young boys, but if a client said they needed good photography, I would jump at the chance to get behind the camera.
Wood Carver
Wood was my favorite medium to work with in college and I continue to be fascinated by it's potential. There is a certain kind of beauty that emerges from texture of woodgrain and the smell of a freshly cut piece of lumber. If you are in need of a personal or public work of art, let me know and dust off my array of saws and hammers.
Video Producer
My wife and I both have video experience on our resumes and we aren't afraid to use it. This is a relatively new venture for Human Radiator and although we lack the equipment of a major production company, we are able to construct short presentations, slideshows, and custom DVD's.
Loyal Cheesehead
I know what you're saying, "How can this be a service?" I am a diehard fan of the Green Bay Packers and would be willing to profess the green and gold gospel to all those who would like to hear it in my ever-increasing efforts to convert non-Lambeau-loving laypersons to the ways of the cheese and frozen tundra.
